GONSTEAD TECHNIQUE
Gonstead chiropractic uses five criteria to evaluate every patient on every visit...
About the Gonstead Chiropractic Technique:
Of the hundreds of different chiropractic techniques practiced all over the world, one of the most well-known and highly respected is the Gonstead Method.
This is the primary technique that we use in our Encinitas Chiropractic office. Gonstead chiropractic is named after Dr. Clarence. S. Gonstead (1898-1978). Before becoming a chiropractor, Gonstead worked in the field of engineering. His background gave him a unique perspective when studying and analyzing the human frame.
His unparalleled work ethic, combined with his desire for constant improvement and understanding of spinal mechanics in relation to the nervous system led to the development of one of the most sought after chiropractic techniques in the world.
Gonstead Chiropractic utilizes 5 criteria to evaluate every patient on every visit.
Visualization: Looking at posture, symmetry and tissue tone
Instrumentation: Used to identify either hot or cold spots along the spine
Static Palpation: Feeling for areas of swelling, edema, and changes in tissue tone
Motion Palpation: Feeling for areas of hypo and hyper mobility
X-Ray Analysis: To determine the best direction and location for the adjustment
These five criteria allow for the Gonstead chiropractor to detect and correct vertebral subluxations with precision and accuracy. One of Dr. Gonstead's famous sayings was, "Find it, accept it where you find it, fix it, and leave it alone."
In Gonstead chiropractic, each and every patient is given a unique and specific adjustment to meet their individual needs. No two people are the same.

We take great care to ensure the best adjustment possible. It is my goal to restore and maintain optimal health for our patients by locating and correcting any interference to the nervous system caused by vertebral subluxation.
